Enter your professional bio here : I'm a freelance health writer with 20 years of experience creating clear, accurate, reader-friendly content for patients, caregivers, and general audiences. My work focuses on health communications and patient education. I've worked on web copy, newsletters, point-of-care handouts, and marketing materials in specialties like urology, nephrology, neurology, and oncology. Throughout my work, my goal is always the same: to make complex information easier for readers to understand. My background in adult literacy shapes how I approach this work. Before becoming a full-time freelancer, I was preparing to become an adult ESL teacher. I spent many years volunteering with learners in community-based adult literacy programs. That experience has shaped my understanding of how language, literacy, and cultural context affect the ways people engage with health information. I hold a BA in English and an MA in applied linguistics, and I've completed the Essential Skills Certificate through the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). I'm also a trained copy editor and proofreader for health clients, working in Chicago, AP, and AMA styles.
